Strawberry Mojito Mocktail Recipe
Strawberry Mojito Mocktail Recipe
If you’re looking for a refreshing drink that feels extra special to sip on, look no further than a strawberry mojito mocktail. Made with simple, healthy ingredients and completely free from alcohol, this mocktail is hydrating, easy to make - and still super fancy! It’s even classed as a zero calorie drink.
Using a high quality sparkling water as well as a generous amount of fruit is the key to making this mocktail so delicious. Not only does a medley of fruit fit the summer aesthetic, it helps create a burst of flavour as the juices are absorbed into the sparkling water.
Tips to create the best strawberry mojito mocktail
Strawberry mojito mocktail recipes are so easy to follow that even the most amateur mixologist can whip one up. However, there are a few tips you can use to make sure your mocktail tastes extra fruity, crisp and refreshing.
- Use plenty of ice: Some mixologists argue that ice is one of the most important ingredients in cocktails because it improves both the look and taste of the drink
- Put effort into making your mocktail: Unlike regular drinks, cocktails should look just as special as they taste.
- Use a flavoured sparkling water that balances the taste of the berries: Though any flavoured sparkling water will work in a strawberry mojito, it’s best to choose a flavour that counteracts the tart berry taste, such as cucumber, lime or peach.
- Stirred, not shaken: When making a mojito, think reverse James Bond. You should only shake a cocktail when it has fruit juice in - shaking sparkling water will lose the bubbles.
- Remove your mint leaves from the stem: Mixing mint leaves without the stem into your drink will help the leaves float, so your drink looks even fancier
Choosing your strawberry mojito mocktail ingredients
It's simple ingredients that are responsible for making a mocktail special, as there’s no alcohol to mask any flavours, so be sure to choose high quality mixers where you can.
When it comes to fruit and garnish, the more you add, the richer the taste. So don’t be afraid to pack it full! We’d always recommend choosing wonky fruit where possible, so that you can do your bit for the environment (just like us).
- Mint leaves: Mint leaves are what make a mojito a mojito, so if you’re going to prioritise any garnish - it’s this.
- Strawberries: Choose wonky! Here at DASH, we’re passionate about preventing food waste, so don’t avoid any strawberries just because they’re a little lopsided.
- Lime: Again, don’t worry if you use limes that are a little battered. They’ll still look fabulous when they’re sliced and served.
- Ice: Crushed ice works really well with mojitos as it mixes with the fruit and mint leaves well.
- Flavoured sparkling water: Choose your favourite flavour of sparkling water to pair with your strawberries - we recommend DASH’s cucumber sparkling water.
What makes a strawberry mojito mocktail a mojito?
A mojito is made from carbonated water, mint leaves and lime, so any drink that uses these as a base is considered a mojito. Many fruits and flavours pair perfectly with a mojito’s simple ingredients, meaning there are often a variety of new takes on the traditional recipe.
You can mix up your mojito by using a different spirit - or in this case, omitting the alcohol all together - or by adding more fruit or a flavoured sparkling water. Strawberry mojitos are a popular choice because they’re such a fun and summery drink, while strawberries and mint are a tasty combo.
What is the difference between a mojito and daiquiri?
Mojitos and daiquiris are similar because they both traditionally contain rum, citrus and sparkling water. However, mojitos contain mint and lime juice, while daiquiris use sugar and lemon juice. The easiest way to differentiate between a mojito mocktail and a daiquiri mocktail is to muddle in fresh mint - that way, it’s a mojito.
